I am not sure why but a large part of my readers come from the UK. Not only here on the blog but from my book sales as well.
I find it amazing! Is it my dry sense of humor that attracts you?
I have a special affection for the UK which is actually quite diverse.
- Some of my favorite authors come from there.
- I love the sense of humor that seems rife with folks from there.
- I am crazy about your accents!
Maybe we could get together and I could say “howdy ya’ll” and you could say something brilliant about afternoon tea.
I just wonder what a week in the UK would do to my linguistic skills? Or perhaps a week down under.
There are a few personalities that fascinate me from the UK. Two of them are polar opposites from one another and probably could not be in the same room with one another. Lily Allen and Katie Hopkins. I adore you both!
Before you run off thinking that I am mad let me tie this up for you.
They are both alike in many ways. While their politics are far from the same their attitudes are exactly the same. In your face, “I am right you are wrong, Fuck Off!” Both of them are totally polarizing figures. There seems to be little middle ground with them. The more you know about them the more you either loathe or love them. It is the later with me ladies.
I think Katie is actually very intelligent and if you argue with her and you make your argument with logic and intelligence you might score points. She is open to being wrong just show her with logic and intelligence. The loudest voice is not the way to win with anyone, least of all her. Katie, I would love to meet you! I think I have watched every one of your YouTube videos and I must say that the interview with you and Milo had me rolling! Way too much and too funny! If you tell me how I can get an autographed copy of your book I will buy it!
Lily Allen is such a strong feminist I am not sure if it is a positive thing or not. I would love to know where these songs come from. In my book The Girl Next Door I actually write a song in her style. My leading lady channels her a bit. The lyrics are in the book as the song is a large part of the story. Thus I had to write a song. The song is very much a Lily Allen type song.
My point to this is not everyone is all bad or all good. Everyone is different and I think we can all agree on that. Both Katie and Lily have strong personalities and neither of them are afraid to speak their mind.
I also like Amanda Palmer… She is married to another one of the authors that I like. Amanda is so brilliant I think that she borders on insanity. I love her, I truly do but she certainly seems to straddle that fence of sane or insane, (in my humble opinion.)
She does this TED talk and I valued it. I would love to sit in a room with her and just talk with her. Without the pressure of being on camera or recorded. I would love to crawl around in her head for a bit.
On a slightly different topic, my lineage happens to come from that area as well. It would seem that I am related to Winston Churchill. I had heard the stories for years but, I finally took the time to dig into the ancestry and the DNA bit. Yes, my mother’s mother was the connection.
I wonder what he would say today if he came back and saw the news. What would he think about what has happened to this country that he defended so valiantly? Katie, would he go Bonkers?
I have my own thoughts but they are superfluous to the conversation.
Anyway UK, I wanted to tell you that I noticed you and appreciate you!
I appreciate all of my readers from all over the world. Whether you are here on this blog or you actually go and read my novels. Reading my blog and commenting is a compliment to me.
My latest novel #27 is 3000 odd words thus far. I think its title will be Gods and Insects and currently, the dark world of DC is coming to fruition as I weave skullduggery into the plot.
My issue with this novel is that it requires me to think in a way that I am unaccustomed to. I have to channel a bad person.
The weekend is upon us. if you have the time, read one of my novels. With no agent as of yet, the price is dirt cheap! My most expensive novel out there is still less than a cup of Starbucks mocha frappe whatever it is.
Many of you are familiar with my writing as you have read many of my novels. Saga of the Starduster is still my number one best seller!
Reading my books is a nice accolade. Thanks so much for that!
Much Love -TW
