The Girl Next Door Updated

Greetings!

Many of you have downloaded and read, The Girl NextDoor.  I know, it has some parts that make you cry, but those are happy tears, yes?  Good stories should evoke emotions as well as entertain.  If Hallmark ever did movies with same-sex lovers, this would be one hell of a movie!

If I told the absolute truth, which I always try to do, some parts of this book still cause tears to mess up my vision, my nose to run, and my cheeks to become damp.  And I wrote the story!

The Girl Nextdoor is a rags to riches tale, which is uplifting in many ways.  It is also slightly naughty so Hallmark would probably have to delete some of that, which would be a shame.

I love the story, and telling about the struggles with Anorexia in a story format is unique, thanks for pointing that out.  Yes, it is a lesfic, and I am unapologetic about that.  When you understand that the differences between the male and female are not that great, then you can get into the story.  I happen to believe that love is magnificent wherever you find it.  As long as love is not used as a weapon, to me, it is excellent and worthy of a story.

Since many of you have offered some feedback on the story, I went back and fixed some typo’s, and I embellished the story a little here and there. The more that I write and edit my own work, the better I become.  I have this love-hate relationship with Grammarly but if you take the time to learn why it doesn’t like this or that, soon your writing will improve, grammatically speaking.

If you want to re-download The Girl Nextdoor, I think you can from Amazon without cost since you already bought it once. The modifications that I made did not change the story, I just embellished some small portions.  Wordsmithing this paragraph or that is what we writers do.  Much like we artist do when we look at a painting we did years ago.  We want to touch it up.

Thanks for your patronage and your support!  I recently released Ghost Signal from Colorado Springs which is a super fun sci-fi that I know you will like.  There is lots of science and love and romance. This could be a movie for regular TV.  Ghost Signal of Colorado Springs is actually YA!  I know, I can write things that kids can read…LOL  Lets face it, naughty is fun to write and read but this book is well worth your time, and it is so reasonable in price.  $2.99 for damned near 90 thousand words of adventure!

Here is the new teaser for The Girl NextDoor..

Sally’s life was about to change as it was past time for a new  “Adventure.” Magic from Scotland would play into this adventure as the Pixies were good at guiding the humans. It was after all their job.  In this rags, to riches story, Sally Spent much time alone entertaining herself by mimicking the musicians on TV never dreaming that she would use those talents for her next big adventure.

Finding love in an unusual place for a girl from South Carolina, Sally had no idea that the Pixies were involved. Guiding her and her future friends in a fantastic adventure that included romance, and music while dealing with health issues, created a bond that would withstand the test of time.

The Girl Next Door is an adult read. Thanks so much for your patronage and your support!  -TW

The reasons behind writing “The Girl Next-door”…#anorexia

My recent tweets about all of us starting out life as girls have stirred up some controversy. Sorry, I don’t have an issue with talking about controversial topics.  As soon as we all start speaking and listening, we can then come to an understanding of the facts, and not the half-truths or deliberate lies.

Before we talk about the Girl Next Door, let me just affirm that yes, we all start out life as girls.  Somewhere in the process of being born the chromosomes do their thing.  If you are to be a male something called the “virilization process occurs.” Female parts turn into male parts. Ovaries turn into testicles and vagina’s turn into scrotums.  That line up the middle of the scrotum is a scar from where the labia majora turned into a beautiful little place to house the testicles’ as they must be kept cooler in respect to the internal temperature of the body.  This cooler temperature is necessary to keep the sperm alive.  And yes that little love button explicitly created for pleasure, with twice the nerve endings as a penis, turns into the pride of most men, and a joy to most women.

Wiring in the brain becomes different to accommodate the difference in the sexes although who knows exactly what the anatomical differences are.  In short, Virginia, that is why men have tits!

I weave these facts in the tapestry of several of my novels as the information needs to be out there for the masses in an acceptable format.  As part of a story, people are more amenable to reading about it than if they are just confronted with it.  Are there differences in the sexes?  Yes, besides plumbing and a few small physical changes and, we are hormonally very different.  Those hormones are part and parcel to go along with the procreation process.

You can take the most male of men and with hormone therapy turn them into a crybaby when a sad movie is played.  Conversely, you can take the most feminine of girly girls and cause them to grow a beard, bulk up, and of course alter their personality and mental makeup altogether.  Hormones are critical to who we are and not too much attention is paid to them. Many are treated with psychotropic meds for depression when their doctors should be looking at their hormones!

One of my favorite singers growing up died of complications due to Anorexia.  That is what caused me to dive into anorexia, to begin with.  Later I had a friend pass because of this disease. Since then I have known many who have dealt with it.  While I often forget to eat, I don’t look in the mirror and see a fat person when the opposite is true.  I just am missing whatever trigger one has, that tells them to eat.  Lightheadedness is usually my cue to eat.

The Girl Next Door is a rags to riches story of a young woman who has had a pretty messed up childhood.  She is gorgeous and anecdotally should have a trail of broken hearts attached to her resume.

Her mother dies in an accident leaving just her and her father, who is bereft of the ability to assist her.  She works through her issues by focusing on school, until her last week when the pixies intervene.  It is time for her to discover herself and prepare for an adventure of a lifetime.

The Girl-Next-Door is a heartwarming tale of love and adventure as our characters travel to Scotland.   There she meets destiny head-on in a small pub on the coast.

The feedback thus far has been great.

In talking with people all over the country, I have learned that anorexia is more prevalent than even what I thought it was.  Some of you who follow me here on WordPress are dealing with this.  I would love to know your story.  I would also really appreciate your thoughts on The Girl Next Door.  I have tried to deal with this in a story format, that is fun.  Try putting the serious subject matter of anorexia in a fun, sexy romp, that not only deals with medical issues but gay issues as well. I dare you!

That is why this blog is juxtaposed with two complex subjects.  If you have read my blogs, tweets or even my books, you know that I genuinely care about people.  People from all walks of life, not just the well to do people.

When you figure out that we are all granted so many heartbeats, and that money or otherworldly things will not make a difference in the end, then you can move forward. Bill Gates, is no more special than you or I.  He has more worldly resources perhaps, but he has no more time on this earth than the next person.  There are no expiration dates stamped on your foot or mine.  When the bell tolls, we will know it.  Until then, seize the day!

If you like my blog, please follow me and tell others about me.  There are lots of good things here that others could benefit from if they knew about it.  While my end game is to sell books and promote my brand, a significant reason for this blog is to get to know you, the people who follow me.  You guys make it worth it.  I love reading what you write.

Through my website at www.authortwscott.com, I get lots of e-mails, and I am fine with that.  Comments here are good too.  Follow me on Twitter @authortwscott or @TWSCOTT823 and help spread the word.  I started the marketing process way too late.  I had written over twenty novels before I got serious about marketing.  Foolishly, I thought Agents would just come flocking by the droves, and I would have to beat them off with a club.

Nope.  While I do much better than many independent authors on sales, I still have a day job too!

My goal is to Quite the Day job and write full time.

Comments or suggestions are always appreciated.  Some of the feedback I get is about typos, and those are very much appreciated too. Even in my tweets, I see some of the silliest typos.  I cannot afford to pay some editor some ridiculous amount of money to watch for dangling participles. The same is true of hiring an artist to do my cover art.  I have done it as best I can with the time and skills allotted to me.  That is why the feedback is so excellent. One can read a sentence a hundred times, and miss the “you” instead of the “your” every time!

That is also why I have books on Kindle Unlimited. Many will read something for free and with luck, will spend a minute to tell me what they think.

Thanks for the follows, tweets and retweets!  If you are one of the many who are reading my books, Thank You so much!  It truly means a lot to me that you went out and purchased one of my novels or even read some of the free ones on Kindle Unlimited.

Much Love!  -TW

The Girl Nextdoor

Sally Towers had no clue that her life was going to change because she hit the snooze button one too many times. Getting through school as the Valedictorian was her goal.

After her mother’s premature death, she thought that graduating top of her class would make her father happy again. Sally had not realized that her father had moved on with his life, and was dealing with his emotional life, with another woman.

The Pixies intervene, creating the situation that brings her and Carissa McCloud together.
Heading to Scotland to start a new adventure finds the two altering the pathways that neither of them had dreamed of, including the Stardom of Sally, who is discovered in a pub while singing karaoke to amuse her new friend.

Becoming The Girl Next Door, Fame and fortune come with a price when her Anorexia is triggered by an innocent comment from a photographer. Not realizing that she was killing herself, Sally hides her condition until it can no longer be hidden.

Magic and the love of her friends unite to save Sally from herself, all the while bringing those together in this world that were meant to be.

The fight with her demons is real and gut wrenching, allowing those who have no idea how insidious this disease is, a glimpse of it.  “Why don’t you just eat?” Is not an answer, which we learn through the novel.

No sad endings here. This novel will have you laugh, love and cry, not necessarily in that order. In typical TWScott style, there is plenty of love to go around.

This is by far one of my favorite Novels.

Check it out here on Amazon.
