Drop Your Drawers

If you have read any of my racier novels, you might think of this as a prelude for some intimate moment.

That is not, however, what this is.  I know, I am sorry to disappoint you.  What this is about, is writing.  Let me take you back to a conversation of plotting vs. pansting.  (as in by the seat of.)

After taking a long hard look at Scrivener, I am thinking about purchasing it once again for my Macs.  I am a PC type person, but, programs like Vellum are only written for the MAC.  Vellum is the ‘cats ass’ when it comes to formatting your book.  You can either pay people to format your book, or, you can buy the program and do it yourself.

Vellum is very easy to use, which is the secret for Microsoft, and yes, the Mac OS as well.  Let’s contrast that with Scrivener.

I won’t give you a tutorial here on this blog about Scrivener, let’s just say it is not intuitive.  Is it worth it?

It is not the price for the software you have to consider; it is the learning curve.  Now add into the learning curve, is this the way you write?

As a Panster, I have resisted plotting any part of my novels.  I have a starting point, and I have an idea of where the ending place will be, and I kind of aim in that direction via a stream of consciousness.

Ok, so let’s drop our pants down to our undies and see where we go.

I would call on New Writers to get used to the idea of creating a logline first.  Let’s say you’re like me, laying there at night waiting for sleep to find you and this idea for a story is rolling around in your head.  What if?  is typically how it starts.

What if we had this guy that is digging around using a metal detector, and stumbles on to something that triggers his detector in a big way?  He is out in the country on land he recently purchased and built this metal detector from a kit.  He and his wife take off on Saturday for something to do as a husband and wife.  Ok, they have a metal detector, then what?

As they trace the arc of the signals returned to the device using little wooden markers, they discover that under their feet is a large metallic object.

While the reader is trying to guess what they found you, the writer is just writing it as if you are there with them, as the events unfold as it were.

What if you started your story with this?

A husband and wife spend the weekend looking for golden nuggets when strong signals send their metal detector into overdrive.  Moving a few boulders away from an outcropping buried by scrub brush, they find a metallic doorway with strange-looking controls by one side of it. Within moments they are inside an alien craft that was hidden by its occupants from centuries ago.

A good logline should be two sentences, not three, but 30 to 50 words or so is about right.

Let’s try again.

An undersea anomaly causing ships to sink brings the military and several different scientists in to solve the mystery.  As the secret unfolds, they discover an ancient alien civilization has been on Earth for hundreds of years, breeding with the indigenous people, creating those with god-like powers.

Ok, two lines 48 words.  This is a decent logline.  Now, as the writer, you take that logline and form an outline for your novel. Using something like Scrivener, you plot out your book, yes in your undies…ok not really.  You get the point.

Loglines are nothing more than a very brief tease to get the reader to open the book or buy tickets to the movie.  You, as the writer, can use them to keep you on target.

What might a tagline look like for this novel?

When the captain of a cruise liner barely escapes a disaster, he brings in the government, which discovers a city filled with aliens on the ocean floor.

These are all from my novel Ghost Signals of Colorado Springs.

If you are like me, sitting inside your house bouncing off the walls, take a trip to the stars in this futuristic adventure through time and space.  Please consider leaving a review on the site from which you purchased it.  Now, if you did not like it for some reason, please let me know here.  Feedback is critical for authors.

Under Roswell on Sale!

“Can you imagine?”

“Sure, what am I imagining TW?”

Imagine that you find this guy really hot.  This guy is so cool that he has no clue he is cool.  You watch him work on things, and you admire the way he thinks.  He is kind to you but does not come on to you in any way.

Imagine you work with this guy for months on end, and you don’t think he is noticing you but, he has no ring and never talks about anyone in his life.

Ok, he is single, why?  The guy is built, smart and dedicated to his work.  You see him working on a pet project that his company allows him to do, and you ask him, ‘what is that for?’

The guy turns to look at you as if for the first time.  His eyes relax, and he smiles as he begins to talk with you about his hobby of technical rock climbing.

‘That explains why he is built the way he is but ‘rock climbing?’’

You can tell from his relaxed way of talking about it that if you want to get into his life, you need to try and understand what makes him tick.

You make a note to research rock climbing so you can engage him with more than a passing interest.  That night you talk to your friend, who was your roommate in college.  She tells you that there is a place not far from her that teaches rock climbing.

Now imagine you are kind of afraid of heights and yet pull it together and learn how to not only master your fears but, you can get to where you are not scared of dying.

With these new-found skills and understanding of the hobby, you began to engage Elliot, Omicron’s ‘fair-haired boy’ regarding a project he is working on.  He tells you that it is a device that destabilizes the atomic bonds of the rocks in a narrowly focused beam, making it super easy to place a hold.

Your job, however, is to report back to the owners of Omicron what he is working on.  They, of course, see this ‘toy’ as a weapon of immeasurable value.  Copying his notes and designs they are sent off to a facility deep within area 51.  Elliot is very much against building weapons, and that is why they hired Susan.

Back in 1947, this alien craft supposedly crashed in Roswell.  What they didn’t know it was not one but three.  Two scout ships crashed just, and one, a much larger intergalactic spacecraft returned into the time-space continuum of the earth, forcing millions of metric tons of rocks to eject from the ground, looking like some kind of geological anomaly.    The place is, of course, the ranch where Elliot’s parents were both living when the crash occurred.  It is also where they mysteriously, disappeared.

Onboard this craft under the rocks is a sentient computer, much like HAL in Space odyssey.  Unlike Hal, this computer can tune into the human brainwaves from quite a distance.  That computer takes an unhealthy interest in human sexuality and develops a few quirks along the way.  (All characters must have a flaw, right?)

Susan convinced Elliot to let her accompany him on his vacation.  She is giddy as she thanked her one day and called her ‘honey.’  ‘He does notice me,’ she thought.

While Susan is in hopes to snag the heart of Elliot, Elliot is in hopes of finding the mystery of where his parents disappeared to, hence the entire interests in rock climbing.  Whey they disappeared, that was not one shred of anything left of them.  Footsteps that just ended or a mysterious note left in the sand.

On this trip to the back of his ranch, while rock climbing, Elliot would dislodge some rocks that fall into a crevasse, and when they land, they make a mysterious ‘clunk.’

Ok, this is you.  Whether you are Elliot or Susan, what happens next is an adventure into another world.  What will you find, and what will you do?

The military has a listening post not too far away, and that all plays into this adventure, which starts out ‘Under Roswell.’

This novel is on Sale both on Smashwords and Amazon.   Down from $9.99 to $5.99 for the e-version.

Time, Do we Understand it?

As a science fiction writer, I tend to think outside the box.  Sometimes, the ideas become so esoteric that I have to fall back, and re-think them.

As I read about the Parker Solar Probe, I just wonder if there is a way to run one more experiment.

The purpose of the experiment is to determine if, “Time close to the sun,” is the same as we experience on earth.

For eons, science fiction writers have gotten it wrong.  Thinking about the time machine, for instance, we see the walls build, and crumble, around our intrepid time traveler, as he goes forward and backward in time.

The authors of such novels did not take time-space, and celestial mechanics, into consideration when they wrote their novels.  Who can blame them?  The ideas are obscure, and few would try to truly understand what is going on.

If our time machine did more than twirl a huge disk and had some lights blink, we would see that in order for it to travel in time it, would necessarily jump outside of the time-space that the earth is in.

Said another way, it would become separated from the earth and this solar system.  Therefore, what would that look like and why?

It is my contention as a science fiction writer, and nerd, that this solar system is in its own time zone.  That time zone is created by mass, and how that mass actually warps space around it.

The idea came to me when there was an anomaly with one of the Voyagers. As it went further into deep space, outside of the effects of the Heliopause, they said it was slowing.  NASA reported that it was slowing down. Is it, or is it simply in a new time zone where time is perceived differently?

It is my contention that it is the latter, which means time, and light years, and so on, are not as we perceive them at all.

If our time machine left the Earth’s Space-time, celestial mechanics would move the earth in several different directions at once.  Not only is the earth rotating on its axis but also it is orbiting the sun on the X-axis.  The solar system, carried along by the Milky Way, is moving both on its X, and Y,-axis, simultaneously.

Once our friend pulled the magic lever, he might pass through the earth, or find himself in space.

As I write about this in Under Roswell, or The Saga of the Starduster, time, as we understand it is not correct.

Not many years ago, there were reports by airport personnel, including air traffic controllers, and pilots of a UFO hovering over the O’Hare airport. Like a shot, it suddenly went vertical, “faster than a speeding bullet.” Leaving holes in the clouds, on its departure.

We know from our understanding of space travel, and so forth, that the G-force would have made the occupants look worse than any bug, on any windshield.  Because we “know” that to be true, we dismissed it, as it could not have happened.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_O%27Hare_International_Airport_UFO_sighting

Because of our understanding of physics, using the Abacas and slide rules, that we have. We could not make sense of it; the incident was passed off, as “swamp gas, or a hoax.”

Even though there were several that saw it, all saying the same thing, it did not happen.

Well, my feeble brained friends, and those of you who are not so feeble, what if those in that disc-shaped object, pushed their magic lever, and found themselves outside of our space-time?

If you accept that not all of the UFO sightings are hoaxes, then we must look for other answers.

If they are not hoaxes, how did they get here?

“In Under Roswell, I write about a Point in Time modulator, which of course is something I made up, as a plot device.  Unlike the infamous Flux Capacitor, I try to dig into the science, of how this could happen, without using the proverbial slide rule.

What I would love NASA to do, is devise some test, that they could perform with this sun probe, to see if the time-space around the sun is different from what it is here on earth.

I am assuming that there will be telemetry from the device.  That data stream may change in baud rate or frequency, as it gets closer to the sun.

Most will want to blame the heat from the sun, but just possibly, someone will think about shifting their algorithm to match that of the data stream, to see that there might indeed be a time change.

If correct, the way that we perceive time and distance would change.  The distance to the stars would necessarily change.

What is the time zone like in the void between galaxies, where there is no mass to create warpage of the space-time?

If you like my way of thinking, you might enjoy:

Ghost Signals from Colorado Springs

Ghost Signal from Colorado Springs

Was Tesla getting messages from Aliens?

I just have to gush over my own books. Yes, I really do as this one was so much fun to create. I take two parallel stories and meld them together on a crash course.

When you read the paragraphs, you will feel like you are the characters. Isn’t that the hallmark a good book?

When I was much younger sitting in the theater, I can remember the anxiety I had as the electric blanket was placed on the ice covering the monster entombed within. Had I not been in the theater I would have screamed at them to not put an electric blanket on ice!

When War of the Worlds was released, and we watched it again on the big screen how scary was that? As the Martian craft systematically exterminated people, I remember my anxiety as the two love interests are flying just above the tree line to escape the Martians. The subsequent crash and then the lady scared out of her wits is trying to take care of the newest man in her life.

When you read a book, it should be better than that.

Reading the words as the writer wrote them you become that character. You are inside their head and feel what they are feeling. When they are thousands of feet under the water in the submersible that is not tested to that depth you can hear the thing creaking as the pressure builds on the tiny craft.

You know that in an instance you could be crushed like a bug on the windshield and it causes you some minor anxiety.

Yeah for the writer and yeah for you!

In one of my other novels “Cyber Subs,” you become the girlfriend who is watching her best friend get on webcam slowly removing her clothes teasing the folks paying her to strip. You are just a few feet away, observing the action as something about it excites you. That feeling inside you that you are all too familiar with is there in an instant as you get up and cross over across the room and join her in front of the webcam. Wearing just a diaphanous gown suddenly it is you in front of hundreds of strangers expecting you to remove your clothing.

What do you do? Are you scared? Are you anxious? Are you turned on? Are you “misty?”

When I write it is the strangest thing, it is me in each and every character. I channel them as it were. Their dialect, their build and so on for the moment I am them. I desire to put enough of them into those words that you too can be them.

This last novel, Kitties Titties, and Winks is about as erotic as it gets with me. I don’t do sleaze as that is not who I am. I read EL James’s novels, and I knew that I could do better. The e-mails thus far are not from my regular readers, but they mostly say the same things so, let’s hope that the trend continues.

With Thirty novels out there written by yours truly, you should find something that interests you. Do not forget that Nudist of Shangri-La was inspired by you my readers, so I do listen to you. Do you have an idea of something you would read?

Let’s have it.

I am taking a little bit of time away from writing to market my current novels and build my brand. It is during this time that I am open to suggestions.

Email me at WWW.Authortwscott.com Check out the website and click on the contact page.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for taking time out of your day to allow me to be some small part of it.

I like to give back to you my readers and followers, and I desire to do so through this blog and by placing my novels out there inexpensively enough that anyone should not have trouble getting them.

If you take the time to let me know what you think of them, I do appreciate that. I get all sorts of e-mails with page numbers and such that I should look at this miss spelling or that one. Don’t get me wrong on this I do appreciate them. I make notes and then go back and fix them as time permits.

As always much Love…TW

Have a super great weekend!

1947 Roswell NM

A different take on the events through the lens of a creative author.

  • If Roswell in 1947 was a real event what would it look like today?
  • If you discovered an alien spacecraft that reacted to your commands what would you do?

Elliot grew up in New Mexico raised by his aunt and her husband.  His parents mysteriously disappeared on their ranch around an outcropping in an obscure area of their ranch. First, his father went missing.  Much later his mother also went missing in the same area.

Moving to California after college Elliot secures a job with a large tech firm Ohmicron.  Developing his own inventions while being the fair-haired boy, Elliot has a moral compass that is not in line with the company.

Providing him an assistant who was primarily to spy on him goes awry when his assistant falls in love with him.  Elliot a bit of a risk taker learned to rock climb back in New Mexico.  When his friend Greg was too busy to accompany him, Susan his assistant decides she must learn enough about it so she can get Elliot to notice her.

Secretly taking classes with her friends, she learns just enough to invite herself along.

Romance blossoms when Elliot shows Susan his love of rock climbing.  Some of those were even too much for her as she slips and lands on her bottom near a dry creek bed.

Allowing her time to pull herself together Elliot coils the ropes and gets the gear ready to make another ascent when everything changes.  Watching a lizard escape the heat scurrying under a crevasse in the rocks, Elliot assumes that there must be a small place or opening.

Dislodging some small pebbles in that same direction of the lizard’s den, while wrapping up the rest of the gear, Elliot hears a mysterious metallic clunk from far below them.  Susan also heard it as she was now no longer thinking of her fall.

What they were both unaware of is how that “clunk” would change their entire lives.  They also had no idea of how that discovery would affect the lives of every human on earth and some races who were in another galaxy.

Under Roswell was inspired by the early termination of Stargate Universe.  Never trying my hand at writing I was always one to be entertained, never the entertainer. When the writers were struggling toward the end of the show with the droid robots from hell, the writing was on the wall.

I was not surprised when the show unceremoniously ended.

Not ready to let them be stranded between galaxies with an uncertain fate on a lark I tried my hand at fan fiction.

Two hours into the project I came to the conclusion that I could tell a story.

Scrapping the project, I started Under Roswell.

Four years later I wrote the end which is probably the only book that I have ever written with the words “The End.”

Thirty published novels later I am still writing as time permits.

The saga of the Starduster is my number one best seller.

Trying my hand at many different genres, from Science Fiction to romances of various kinds, it has been a fun ride. Yes, I have even written a few slightly tawdry novels including some same-sex love.

Some of the e-mails ask why I tried the LGBT stuff.  “Why not?”

Other than some minor plumbing differences, we are all the same. It is my goal to unite us as a people instead of following in the footsteps of the media and others that would seek to destroy us through bigotry and yes ignorance.

In some of my novels, I address things like labels and using sexuality as a weapon and yes being a bully.

Under Roswell is a science fiction that is actually YA.  Taking some of my characters through Russia while taking others into other galaxies is just part of the fun.  You too can ride along as our heroes save the earth from inevitable destruction.

Thanks for following me and reading along as I take you on a journey with me through the trials and tribulations of being an author.

Lost In Space II

Would you trust Dr. Smith?

Ok, I did it, I binged watched the season with my company. This is the most TV I have watched in twelve months. The cats in my lap made it bearable.
I still love the characters. I like how they are being developed.
The writing is still too predictable…There were no surprises for me as I knew what I would do as a writer.

  • Have you watched it?
  • Were there any surprises for you?

Breaking the laws of physics with the alien thing is a great way to invent your “flux capacitor.”
I actually try to stay within the confines of physics so the plot will be more interesting to those who are nerdy enough to understand that sort of thing.
Until season II is released I guess we can sit back and pontificate on where they will go with this story.

  • I give high marks to the special effects crew.
  • Again I love the characters.

If you have Netflix go and watch it and tell me what you think.

What if an Alien visited us tomorrow?

If a flying disc landed in front of you what would you do?

I am rather amazed to see actual real footage of UFO’s caught on military aircraft cameras released to the public.  This is from 2012.

More and more we are seeing actual footage of alien type anomalies reported and making the news.  Is Trump allowing the American people to actually see some of the truth about this subject to grasp how we react?  Was the 1947 Roswell crash true?  Are we being groomed to allow us to learn the truth or is it all lies and deception?

Will we ever know the truth about Area 51?

It is no secret that I am a huge science fiction fan.  It is also no secret that in many of my novels currently selling worldwide, I talk about the danger of being discovered by an alien interloper.

While Hollywood paints this picture of friendly aliens trying to phone home or aliens that are benevolent that want to come and assist us, I fear that the more accurate representation of aliens would be that of Independence Day!

Had someone asked me when Carl Sagan was sending a roadmap to the earth on a golden record out into space complete with our human anatomy on it, I might have dissuaded him.

I found it interesting the other day when Michio Kaku said we do not need to be meeting with any aliens.  He said it would be like an intellectual trying to talk with a squirrel.

I disagree “respectfully” with him, however.  I think it would be more like an intellectual trying to talk with a cockroach.

The significance is that they would think nothing of squashing a cockroach, and at least a squirrel has some redeeming qualities.

In The Saga of the Starduster, one of my latest novels, I humorously portray what an alien society might make of earth and its population.  While my point was on target, I try to always interject humor.

The absolute truth is that we are a people ruled by our emotions.  The society that abducts Don has decided to do away with feelings as they are unpredictable and can cause war.

Our petty squabbles on this planet are purposeless.  We go to war for what someone else has.  From Cain and Able to modern day, we go to war if not literally then certainly figuratively.  We get this case of the “by gods” and stop listening to anyone else’s point of view.

No, I fear that the visits, if they are indeed happening are trying to decide just how dangerous we are.  Should we be allowed to leave our planet?  They might be researching what our natural resources are before deciding what to do with us.

Currently, as we presently are, I would say we have no business greeting other races outside of the human race.  Can you imagine the bigotry that we have today on any difference what so ever pushed out into a population of aliens who can travel light years in hours?

Given technology to reach to the stars would be dangerous for advanced civilizations.

Some of the happiest, most well-adjusted people that I know, are people who have very damned little stuff or money.  They make do with what they have.  Family, friends, enough to eat and nobody messes with them, is what they want.

The better off people are it seems to me the more screwed up that they are.  Is that just my perception?

I once met a man in an elevator going to see his oncologist.  We were in a clinic in Houston, I was bringing things up to the doctor to sell him.  As we waited for the elevator the water from the recent rain shower, we both walked in from the parking lot, dripped off us.  There were puddles on the tile floor as we closed our umbrellas and tried to look as though we had just not left a sauna.  I was not thrilled with the weather and wished that I was not working that day. I was, in fact, sure that a warm bed with a purring feline and good book would have been a much better use of my time.

Man, was I wrong!

I asked him how he was, and he said… “Every day the good lord lets me wake up and suck air, is a good day!”

I never forgot that bit of wisdom from an old gray-black gentleman.  He was wearing a suit to see his doctor, and I was thrilled to meet him.  That meeting was the most important meeting of that day and probably that year.

We should all be like that!

I stopped complaining that day.  Changed my life.  I was there doing my job, and he was there to see how much life he had left.  He was happy and cheerful, even in Houston’s miserable hot rain.

In a way, I would like to try and live in an Amish community for a bit.    The more that I know about the world that we live in, the less content that I am. Without the smartphone reminding me every few moments about how evil Trump is, or why the Democrats are so great, just possibly I might think for myself.

Why Yahoo news has joined with the likes of Facebook and Google to cast dispersions on the president of the United States is beyond me.

“How can a people this advanced be this damned stupid!”

If you want to take over a country you take over the media.  Google, Facebook, and Yahoo are the media that most look at for their news.  Ninety-Seven percent of it is negative on Trump!  Even with American’s getting fatter paychecks they still trash Trump.  Why?

It would be ok if they were balanced but they are not. Every report on the president has a negative spin on it. Triggered much Google?

Stupid might not be the correct adjective.  Possibly we are just short-sighted. Our values seem to be turning upside down and for what reason?  Who is selling this pack of lies and why?

We can only hope that if we are being visited by aliens from another galaxy or solar system, that they are more intelligent and benevolent than we are.

From what we have seen of them “which is very limited” it would appear that they do not comport with our understanding of physics.   Flying at right angles at incredible speeds would not fit our understanding of physics.  They have apparently figured out how to manipulate time.

While it appears to us that they are moving at right angles at incredible speeds they are just cruising along in a “different time zone” if you will, and when they need to get away from us they just change the time variable.

Time as we understand it is incorrect. It is not a constant as most of the world believes.

In Under Roswell, I go into detail on Time as well as in Ghost Signals from Colorado Springs.  I believe in my Hole in Time series I talk about it as well.

I certainly talk about it in The Saga of the Starduster.  Check it out!

Thanks for the purchases of my novels.  Follow me here on this blog, or on Twitter and of course, check out my website and http://www.AuthorTWscott.com

Gravitational Lensing, Time and the ubiquitous UFO

We think we understand time but we don’t.

Under Roswell

Ok, instead of working on my latest novel I am going to take some time to respond to a plethora of e-mails!  It would seem that many of you like science fiction or in this case science supposition.

While gravitational lensing is a given, we have proof of it, what are the other implications?

In last night’s blog, we talked about a couple of UFO’s that were witnessed by very credible folks.  In both cases, they appeared to be normal as far as flight characteristics.  Then all of the sudden they just shot up at incredible speeds.

Our limited mind cannot comprehend how or why so many dismiss it as it was an optical illusion or it did not happen.  Ok, but what if it did?

I genuinely do believe that it did happen because I do think outside the box.  I am not locked into some stodgy person’s idea of what is and what is not. The scientists must, in fact, have open minds and be willing to admit that they are wrong.

Some scientist like some doctors cannot admit that they are wrong.  They certainly don’t want to read what I write as a science fiction writer and take it seriously.

Hubris run amuck, and they are fools!

The first step in learning is to admit that you either don’t know or that you could be wrong.

The second step is to listen to diverse opinions and then be willing to accept that they may be right.

I have tweeted to two people that I respect in hopes that they might have the time to follow the link and proffer some insight on what I am putting forth.  For Science fiction books it makes little difference but, remember that a lot of science that we have today started out as conjecture on some writers part.

Case in point Dick Tracy.  No not science fiction but it hit me today as I was walking in the store and my phone rang.  My watch hooked to my phone via Bluetooth was there telling me who it was.  Pushing the little green button on my watch I was soon talking into it much like the old Dick Tracy comics of old.  Yes, it took 50 years or so but Viola, I have the ultimate Dick Tracy watch!

So how does gravitational lensing work?

The gravity of an object is so strong that it warps space.  This is also a crucial element to time travel.

As I stated last night, I think that space-time is local to the amount of gravity that an object or an accumulation of objects have.  The difference between the earth and one of the planets is probably not significant enough to measure.

For our purpose if space is warped by gravity and space is actually space-time then the time constant of that space-time is different than that of ours here on earth.  Did you follow that?

The sunspots, those huge storms that seem to go on forever I don’t think actually do go on forever.  The mass of the sun or the immense gravity I believe has the sun in its own time zone.  Those storms on the sun are actually occurring much faster but to us, the observer here on earth they seem to be so slow!

The same is true if you could witness something around a black hole.

The object that was about to be pulled apart at the atomic level would experience things just like we do here.  The difference is if we the observer watched them it would take forever from our perspective!  The closer they got the slower they would appear to go.

The storms on the sun if we could tolerate being in the same time zone as the sun would be much faster.

This brings us to quantum physics which I just love!

Particle physics is such a fun concept to ponder.  If we examine the double slot experiment that has puzzled the masses, it makes no sense.  What if that other photon, when observed, is doing something different another than location?  Instead of asking where did it go how about when did it go?

As far as lensing is concerned, if the gravity is strong enough to warp space and we agree that space and time are related than I think we can also agree that my postulations of zoned time make sense.

Around large massive objects, the time zone is different than smaller objects.  Inside the heliopause, time is relatively constant as far as measuring distances with the speed of light.  In the void outside the solar system I think that is a different zone and again, outside the influence of the Milky Way (the void between galaxies), we would once again find that time was different.

I have been asked what limits the speed of light?

What if the photons can only go so fast until they start to turn time backward? Between galaxies, I would guess that speed would change as the time zone of the density of that space would change.

If we could artificially make a ship appear smaller than a photon, then we could do what?  We could go backward in time.

Since I don’t have a DeLorean to play with and the Flux Capacitor was the invention of another writer I invented the Space-Time Modulator.

In my novel Under Roswell, this alien race uses an untested version of the PITM to try to go back in time to save their race who has foolishly used a dark matter bomb as a show of force to quell an uprising from a group of misfits.

The bomb is so efficient and so terrible, it not only turns their planet into a sun but it starts to suck matter from other worlds into it very much like the Big Bang in reverse!

Under Roswell was the first novel I wrote and it took four years.

Yes, it could probably use some professional editing, but it is really a great read.  Look past the your instead of you’re, or you and you will enjoy the read.

If you want to assist a fellow author make notes of the typos and tell me where they are.  I will fix them in some future version.

Many of my thoughts on science things are in the book which is more believable than a garbage sucking DeLorean that hurls Michael J Fox into the future.

If you want to sample some of my novels for free, I have the Hole In Time series on Kindle Unlimited.  These are lunchtime reads that have been very popular with folks from all over the world. I would love to hear your opinion!

Ok, it is late and tomorrow is a workday.  I still have a Full-Time Job as I have no agent as of yet.  Because of that, my books are super inexpensive because no agent is getting some significant cut of the profit.

Let me be clear I am not dissing agents.  Good agents bring a lot to the table, and they are worth what they produce.  If you know of one who wants to work with someone with a proven track record send them over here.  We will both thank you!

I stopped writing query letters as that could be a full-time job right there.  It takes 4 hours for each letter if you do it correctly.

  • Research the Agent or firm
  • Read and understand what they want to see and in what format.
  • Craft the letter exactly how they want to see it, they are all different.
  • Look at who they already represent and understand who those authors are and what they write.
  • It is at least a four-hour procedure to send an e-mail that has a chance at getting past their intern who is looking for dotted I’s and crossed T’s and some other information that we have no clue of what it might be.

I don’t have that kind of time or stamina.  I have 26 published novels selling around the world.  Amazon and Smashwords along with Barns and Nobles, Apple and a host of others are making money from what I do. The prices are dirt cheap because I am an independent author and while I work very hard to get my brand out there, I am still waiting for the first novel to go viral.

I even wrote a book much like 50 shades thinking that would most certainly do it.  Over 3000 people look at that book every day! An earlier edition was hijacked and put on some site in some country that I cannot understand what the language is much less what it says.

If you are an author, I have many that follow me, I would love to hear from you.

I don’t have all the answers.  I try and push ahead.  The good news is that I do love what I do so it is not really a chore.  I would love to write full time, but that is not in the cards currently.

Thanks for following me and reading my blogs and books!

Twitter is an excellent way to see what I am up to.

Contact me through the website www.authortwscott.com is a great way to say hello if you so choose.

This blog is another way.

DM’s on twitter I would rather not do.  I don’t have enough hours in the day for that and for some reason some guys must think that I am sexually deprived and send me a picture of their …stuff…

As a writer of some erotic material, I must say that some of their stuff, is impressive but truly, I don’t need to see it. I have painted nudes before, so the human body is beautiful; either sex.  An imitation of Anthony Weiner I don’t need.   If you need some loving go read Cyber Subs.  That book is HOT! Even if it is dinner and flowers for one, that book will get you there.  If you are dating your hand or BOB, that novel has promise!

Whether you are dating or married, don’t forget that Valentine’s day is right around the corner!

Ok, it is late, good night loves!

Is space the final frontier?

The answers are for the people who think outside the box!

As a science fiction writer, I often wonder what space travel would look like for “normal” folks.

If you have ever been stuck at your house because of inclement weather for a few days what happens?  Cabin Fever. Not too many years ago we had snow here in Dallas that kept us all indoors for several days.  We don’t have chains here in the south, and we don’t have snow shovels or snow machines.

A snow storm here in Texas is usually a pleasant diversion from the ordinary.  Schools close at the first flurry, and people rush out to the stores to buy up supplies like they were going to be stuck for weeks on end. No, usually just a few hours to a few days tops.

Realizing that cabin fever is a reality for a few days, I have yet to travel to Australia, not because of money or lack of invitations but the sheer terror of being stuck on a plane for 20 hours! The only way I made it to Hawaii was to layover a few days in Vegas, catch Hawaiian air from there to Hawaii making that leg only six hours.  Did the same on the return trip where I visited the spa at the Hard Rock and fell asleep during the massage.

That was somewhat troublesome when you think about it, naked and asleep while some person is kneading your body and you have no idea if you enjoyed it or not! Or did they enjoy it….? No, let’s not go there….

So let’s take it to the next step.

How long does it take to get to Mars?

For argument’s sake let’s say a year.

A year without going to the mall.

A year without Facebook or any of the other trappings of life that you are used to.

A year of drinking processed urine… Yuck!

A year just to get to your destination and then what?

Why go to Mars, other than it is there?

It is not like you are going to go outside and catch some rays…

What if you get a toothache?

What if some other medical abnormality afflicts you?

Yes, they medically assess your body and rank you as far as your probability of having issues.

How many times have you heard of someone getting checked out by their cardiologist telling them that they are fine? Once they get checked out, they walk out the door and suffer a myocardial infarction?

Imagine you are so far from earth that messages take up to 15 minutes just to go one way?

That would make surfing the web really slow.

That would also eliminate the possibility of some surgeon on earth using something like the Da Vinci machine to remotely do surgery on you. Ruptured appendix, some accident you name it you must depend on a crewmate to do whatever it takes.  What if you are the doctor and you need the emergency procedure?

So, you get to Mars, and you have managed not to see REDRUM on some wall.

Wisely NASA has kept all the axes off the ship.

Why go to Mars?

It is a cold dead planet that has been sterilized by the lack of atmosphere and radiation. No matter what mineral you found the cost of getting it from Mars to the Earth would be prohibitive.

Mars is not the final frontier.  Getting to Mars and setting us some sort of colony would only be beneficial for what we would learn from it.

When situations arose, and we came up with workarounds to fix them as we have done in space travel before.  Yes, we went to the moon, another cold dead rock in space.

As a science fiction writer, I have time travel as a component of space travel.

The physics we have today that we think we understand are not complete.  Imagine taking the formula 2.1+2 and coming up with 4, not 4.1.

We are close, but we don’t have the point one or the point 000001.  There is a margin of error which is enormous.

We don’t understand time.  We think of it as linear, and it is not.

When you think outside the box, you realized that time is consistent with the zone that you are in.

Gravity warps space thus space-time.  The time around the sun is different than the time around the earth.  The time in this solar system is different than the time outside the solar system.  Outside the heliopause time is different.

NASA has a conundrum on their hands in that the Voyager spacecraft are decelerating. They are slowing down.

“How can that be?”

There are many theories.  The one they have settled on is based on a byproduct of the power supply on the craft.  They assume that the tiny (infinitesimal) amount of heat produced by the reaction of the power supply is acting like an ion engine pushing against the fabric of space.

OK, nice try but could it be that space-time where the craft is, may not be the same as it is here?

The space-time around a black hole is much different than it is here so it only makes sense that the further away from sources of gravity “warped space” that time would act differently.

Now if true, that means that the distance between galaxies and stars is different as we perceive it to be!

What if the constant speed of light is not constant at all but fluid depending on the medium through which it travels?

Time is the next frontier.  We need to understand the physics of gravity and time.

We mark time with our watch or a calendar which is punctuated by events, a series of linear events.  I would posit to you that time is not linear at all.  Dilation of time is provable, we need to take it to the next step.

If we assume that the recent reports of alien craft visiting this earth are accurate, and I am willing to believe that they are, then we must deal with the how and the why!

The craft over O hare shot up at an astounding rate, faster than a bullet.

The craft captured on the air force pilots camera took off at a similar rate.

If we stick to our stodgy understanding of physics, we just deny that it happened.  “That is not possible as the inhabitants would be flattened against the inside of the ship… F=M.A don’t you know…? What you say happened does not fit our model of physics, therefore, it did not happen…!  “But it did!”

In my latest novel and in Under Roswell I posit that time can be modulated or manipulated.  If our alien friends switched their craft to a different time constant for them, they would just be floating along having a beautiful day.  To us, they would shoot off like a bullet.  That is what we saw so ergo we must assume that they have figured it out.

Why can’t we figure it out?

The first part of the problem is we have to think outside the box!

If you like my reasoning, please take the time to read either of my books Under Roswell, Saga of the Starduster or Ghost Signals from Colorado Springs.

The ideas are mine, they are not borrowed from anyone.

The concepts belong to me and nobody else.

Saga of the Starduster

Skinny Dipping on an alien world was probably not their best idea.

Skinny Dipping on an alien world was probably not their best idea.  A planet supposedly devoid of sentient life left the crew wondering if their definition of sentient should be revisited.

Hijacked from the International Space Station, Don finds himself the “guest” of a race of beings who patrol the galaxies looking to maintain some modicum of law and order.  Shot at as they came nearby the Earth’s moon, the captain wants to know who shot at him, and why?

Discovering the Space station, he decides to bring it inside one of their cargo bays.

Don, a willing participant, goes on board.  During the initial medical examination, their doctor learns of cancer inside Don’s lung.  Creating a virus to attack the cancerous tumor; things go badly as she had never treated humans.

Uploading his conscious to one of their computers, their team works feverishly to save his failing body. Don learns all about them in their virtual reality computer.  Their doctor attaches her mind to his via this machine, to learn that Don had a beautiful mind and spirit.

Emotions were abandoned in their culture, but she was allowed to experience them.  For the first time in her long life, falling in love and experience what love was, the story will have you laughing, loving and crying as the two races meld; finding common ground.

Not to worry, there are no sad endings, but this ending is a surprise that you might not see coming!

Those of you who have read it, loves it.  Readers are what keep authors like me going. Thanks so much!

Thanks for following me here on the blog, on my website at WWW.authortwscott.com and of course Twitter @authortwscott or @TWSCOTT823.

As always contact me here or on the website contact page.  If you are an author and would like to swap links on your website, I believe in helping others as I have been assisted.

Authors are not in competition with one another.  My style is not yours, nor yours mine.

The saga of the Starduster is a novel that will have you turning pages!
