The reasons behind writing “The Girl Next-door”…#anorexia

My recent tweets about all of us starting out life as girls have stirred up some controversy. Sorry, I don’t have an issue with talking about controversial topics.  As soon as we all start speaking and listening, we can then come to an understanding of the facts, and not the half-truths or deliberate lies.

Before we talk about the Girl Next Door, let me just affirm that yes, we all start out life as girls.  Somewhere in the process of being born the chromosomes do their thing.  If you are to be a male something called the “virilization process occurs.” Female parts turn into male parts. Ovaries turn into testicles and vagina’s turn into scrotums.  That line up the middle of the scrotum is a scar from where the labia majora turned into a beautiful little place to house the testicles’ as they must be kept cooler in respect to the internal temperature of the body.  This cooler temperature is necessary to keep the sperm alive.  And yes that little love button explicitly created for pleasure, with twice the nerve endings as a penis, turns into the pride of most men, and a joy to most women.

Wiring in the brain becomes different to accommodate the difference in the sexes although who knows exactly what the anatomical differences are.  In short, Virginia, that is why men have tits!

I weave these facts in the tapestry of several of my novels as the information needs to be out there for the masses in an acceptable format.  As part of a story, people are more amenable to reading about it than if they are just confronted with it.  Are there differences in the sexes?  Yes, besides plumbing and a few small physical changes and, we are hormonally very different.  Those hormones are part and parcel to go along with the procreation process.

You can take the most male of men and with hormone therapy turn them into a crybaby when a sad movie is played.  Conversely, you can take the most feminine of girly girls and cause them to grow a beard, bulk up, and of course alter their personality and mental makeup altogether.  Hormones are critical to who we are and not too much attention is paid to them. Many are treated with psychotropic meds for depression when their doctors should be looking at their hormones!

One of my favorite singers growing up died of complications due to Anorexia.  That is what caused me to dive into anorexia, to begin with.  Later I had a friend pass because of this disease. Since then I have known many who have dealt with it.  While I often forget to eat, I don’t look in the mirror and see a fat person when the opposite is true.  I just am missing whatever trigger one has, that tells them to eat.  Lightheadedness is usually my cue to eat.

The Girl Next Door is a rags to riches story of a young woman who has had a pretty messed up childhood.  She is gorgeous and anecdotally should have a trail of broken hearts attached to her resume.

Her mother dies in an accident leaving just her and her father, who is bereft of the ability to assist her.  She works through her issues by focusing on school, until her last week when the pixies intervene.  It is time for her to discover herself and prepare for an adventure of a lifetime.

The Girl-Next-Door is a heartwarming tale of love and adventure as our characters travel to Scotland.   There she meets destiny head-on in a small pub on the coast.

The feedback thus far has been great.

In talking with people all over the country, I have learned that anorexia is more prevalent than even what I thought it was.  Some of you who follow me here on WordPress are dealing with this.  I would love to know your story.  I would also really appreciate your thoughts on The Girl Next Door.  I have tried to deal with this in a story format, that is fun.  Try putting the serious subject matter of anorexia in a fun, sexy romp, that not only deals with medical issues but gay issues as well. I dare you!

That is why this blog is juxtaposed with two complex subjects.  If you have read my blogs, tweets or even my books, you know that I genuinely care about people.  People from all walks of life, not just the well to do people.

When you figure out that we are all granted so many heartbeats, and that money or otherworldly things will not make a difference in the end, then you can move forward. Bill Gates, is no more special than you or I.  He has more worldly resources perhaps, but he has no more time on this earth than the next person.  There are no expiration dates stamped on your foot or mine.  When the bell tolls, we will know it.  Until then, seize the day!

If you like my blog, please follow me and tell others about me.  There are lots of good things here that others could benefit from if they knew about it.  While my end game is to sell books and promote my brand, a significant reason for this blog is to get to know you, the people who follow me.  You guys make it worth it.  I love reading what you write.

Through my website at www.authortwscott.com, I get lots of e-mails, and I am fine with that.  Comments here are good too.  Follow me on Twitter @authortwscott or @TWSCOTT823 and help spread the word.  I started the marketing process way too late.  I had written over twenty novels before I got serious about marketing.  Foolishly, I thought Agents would just come flocking by the droves, and I would have to beat them off with a club.

Nope.  While I do much better than many independent authors on sales, I still have a day job too!

My goal is to Quite the Day job and write full time.

Comments or suggestions are always appreciated.  Some of the feedback I get is about typos, and those are very much appreciated too. Even in my tweets, I see some of the silliest typos.  I cannot afford to pay some editor some ridiculous amount of money to watch for dangling participles. The same is true of hiring an artist to do my cover art.  I have done it as best I can with the time and skills allotted to me.  That is why the feedback is so excellent. One can read a sentence a hundred times, and miss the “you” instead of the “your” every time!

That is also why I have books on Kindle Unlimited. Many will read something for free and with luck, will spend a minute to tell me what they think.

Thanks for the follows, tweets and retweets!  If you are one of the many who are reading my books, Thank You so much!  It truly means a lot to me that you went out and purchased one of my novels or even read some of the free ones on Kindle Unlimited.

Much Love!  -TW

Yes, Smashwords does not like crack..Buttcrack…

Yes, they really did object…

Dragon Master and the Witch
Book Cover for Dragon MAster and the Witch By TWScott

If that is not art I will eat it…. Good thing it is digital…

When I posted that blog about my cover art some were amazed that Smashwords would take issue with my witch in the lake.

It is sad that I had to do this to pacify the Puritans …

No, witches don’t really melt when you get them in water.  Could you imagine if they did, there would be no witches, Well, no witches that you could stand to be around as they would stink the high heavens!

Yes, Witches enjoy a shower like the rest of the world.  Yes, some witches do have nice butts even though I admit that my cover art witch, is my creation…. Lol

My claim is that I was under the spell of the witches to create butt that is perfect from the bottom to the top…

I like Big Butts and I cannot lie… oops I digress

I was thinking about a story regarding Francisco Goya when I got this from Smashwords.

Modified Goya Nude MAJA
modified by others and eventually me to look more natural.

This painting of his was so risqué that it was not seen in public.  He in fact never got to see his work on public display during his lifetime.

I love this painting, not so much for the Nude Maja but the incredible detail.

I did a study of fabric with my own nude and mine is crap compared to his.

Lady in Blue
Fabric Study 2000

I found Goya’s on line and took the liberty of doing a little touch-up.  Still this is a fabulous painting so much so that I may do one like it just to have it on my wall.  No, can’t sell a copy of someone’s painting but there is nothing wrong with doing it for yourself.

Often times we artist get into trouble when we do such things for pecuniary interests.  (Making money)

Copying his work however to learn, is perfectly acceptable.

I enjoy art immensely.  I could not resist touching up this painting by Goya.  I did it for two reasons really.

The first is the copy I found on the internet has been modified already from the original.  Second I came to know the painting as I can see his brush strokes.  The paint used is nothing like we have today.  Back in the day, they made their own paint and cadmium red or cadmium anything was toxic as hell.

While we think that we are safer today with our modern day paints and chemicals I would tell you that just because it is odorless does not mean that it is not toxic.  I still use very well ventilated areas for painting.  In the cooler months, I might very well go outside to paint.

Today with the IPad Pro and some good software, I can get my art fix with no chemicals.

Take a look at the Goya and then my fabric study and you will see what I mean.

I did this fifteen plus years ago so consider that when judging me … LOL

In other News, Perpetual Palpitation seems to be moving up the charts of books downloaded.

If you are on this blog, and you are the one of those buying it, Thanks for that!

I look for trends and then try to analyze them.

Marketing 101 ….

For Some of you, it is already Monday Morning…On behalf of us still, on Sunday have a great and Super Week!

Dragon Master and the Witch

Yeah!  It is finished!

This story took longer than anticipated.  Six weeks give or take with several edits to get it right.

A week of that time I was traveling so, I guess 5 weeks to write a book.  I like to wrap one up in a month.

During the late 1200’s Blaise, the Dragon master is banished to the top of Mount Sherman by the Queen for a disagreement that the Queen and his father got into.

Blaise took the time to train his dragons and learn from his father.  After his father dies, Blaise becomes the Dragon Master.

Sarah and Blaise were set to be married until the falling out.  She would often sneak out of the castle to meet up with Blaise until one day she was captured by another who sought to control the dragons.

Removing her from the dark ages of England to 2017 in the United States, Sarah hardly fit in.  Unaware of where she was or what the place was famous for, the portal through which they traveled had its own plan, taking them near Salem Massachusetts.

Blake, the Son of the evil sorcerer, was in love with the Queen ’s other daughter; Katherine. When Blakes mother died suddenly, Zolof placed the blame on the villagers.  The anger that ensued was all that Zolof needed to turn the heart of his son dark; thus controlling him to do his bidding with a spell.

While Sarah attempts to put together a Coven of 13 in 2017, Zolof needs to lure Blaise through the portal where his powers would be useless allowing Zolof the opportunity to kill him.  Once Blaise dies, Zolof would inherit the loyalty of the dragons giving him all the power he would need to bring the world to its knees.

What we have here is a love story in the classic sense.  We have a fairy tale where my sense of humor and wit come through in my characters.

The artwork is a combination of a painting I did years ago and some digital art to make a rather impressive cover.

This is my 25th Novel, and I believe a milestone.

Currently, my work is selling around the globe on more servers than I can count.  I have to trust that I am being paid for my work but truthfully, I have seen my works pirated on sites that I do not even have a clue of what the language is.  If it is good enough to pirate, I guess I should take it as a compliment.

Amazon should release this book in a day or so.  I published it on Smashwords too.  Smashwords, while a pain to publish on, does send it to many different sites including B&N, Apple, and too many others to mention.

Once a month I get royalties from them via PayPal, so there are good things about them as well.

The link for Smashwords I will put here, so you can get your copy and tell me what you think!

We, independent Authors, appreciate you the readers of our work.

We don’t have multi-million dollar publishing companies hyping our Books.  We, the independent must write it, edit it, create the art work and market it! To get it in your hands, Amazon and other companies like them provide a website to sell it on and take as much, if not more than an agent would charge.

Agents provide the technical services as well as the marketing! Agents hire editors who not only look for typos but know how to guide the author in ways that would make the story more palatable.

Dangling participles aside, a good editor is hard to find.  Many on Twitter will offer their services, but I must tell you the truth of this.  An independent writer cannot afford $10 a page.

The hard truth is that most “independent writers” will think their work is great and be willing to spend the money betting on the ROI. The facts are that few will make over $10 in royalties in their first year.  If that hurts, I am truly sorry but it is the bitter truth.  Don’t write for pecuniary interests. Don’t play the lottery for a retirement strategy. Keep your day job!

Another service people offer is cover art design.

And still another is marketing, and the list goes on.

The only folks who make money in this business are those who provide some sort of service, with no guarantees.

That is why readers like yourself are so important for the independent author.

Folks, we need you!  I support independent authors, and I know most of you do as well.

With 25 novels selling around the globe, one day you will be able to say, “you knew me when!”

“Yes, I have made much more than $10…”  The truth of it is that I would do it all over again if I were to only make $10.  I love what I write so at the very least, there are 25 novels out there with the Brand TWScott that people are enjoying. That means something.

You can contact me here, or on my website at www.authortwscott.com.

Follow me on Twitter @authortwscott or @twscott823

Buy my books.  Not one of them cost more than a cup of fancy coffee!

Many are on Amazon Kindle Unlimited so you can read them for free!

Those that have read my novels to date; tell me that they like them; so I am on to something. Some of the feedback on Cyber Subs had me go back and change much of it.

I am always looking for an idea for the next novel.

I wrote a story about a couple of young ladies who do web cam shows for money.  Tonight on the news I learned about a young mother who poses nude on Instagram making about $5K a month.  If you like a little titillation, read that book called Cyber Subs!

The interesting thing about this woman is she is no model.  She is a mother and married to someone in the military who takes the photos of her.  One of my themes in many of my books is about loving who you are.  I would not mind interviewing her as I think that might make a story too.

Thanks for the purchases of my books!

Thanks for the follows and retweets!

If you are an agent or know of one that is not too proud to support an independent author such as myself; I could use the help!

I am a writer; that is what I do.

Marketing, I would rather leave to the professionals.

I spent years working in an advertising agency, and I would still rather write, than market.

Voices From the Past

Was it fate or magic that put the two on a collision course.

Married to a mommas boy, Jennifer decides she has had enough.  Twenty odd years of putting up with supporting her husband, and now his mother was too far.  Just wanting to go away for a few days without his mother tagging along; was a non-starter.

After the final argument, she leaves the house.  Filing for divorce, She soon finds her way to the States as a correspondent for her magazine.  Leaving the editing desk, she was now on an adventure.  Covering the Texas state fair; she bumps into a cowboy spilling his beer.  Harold bit his tongue wanting to take the mousy haired Brit to task when she smiled at him disarming him as she began to speak.

Was it fate or magic that put the two on a collision course.

Voices from the Past is a story about magic, romance, and love but not what you might expect.

Old meets new in this modern day tale of witchcraft, magic, and love.

Voices from the Past has been a good seller thus far, tell me what you think.
